Nephrotic Syndrome
- Must always be considered in any child who has
Nephrotic
Syndrome and does not undergo a remission within 4 weeks of beginning steroid
therapy
- Clinical manifestations usually occur between 2-10 years of age
- Majority have hematuria
- May be primary or secondary to a variety of disease processes (e.g.,
sickle cell, reflux, etc.)
- Progresses to renal failure
- Treatment response is poor
