Congenital Vertical Talus
also Flatfoot differential dx
- May be associated with other neurological impairment, e.g.,
MMC,arthrogryposis
- X-rays demonstrate the talus to be pointed vertically rather than aligning
itself at a right angle to the tibia
Exam:
- flatfoot deformity is severe and does not correct when the child is
suspended
- There is a convexity over the medial aspect of the foot (inner foot
bulges) with the head of the talus palpable on the plantar medial aspect of
the foot (feel talus on medial sole of foot).
Treatment: primarily surgical
