Testicular Torsion

• Testis and cord twist on vertical axis leading to edema, arterial compromise, infarct

• Sudden onset pain/swelling; erythematous, edematous scrotum, testis tender

• Dx clinically and by flow scan or color Doppler

• Surgical emergency: close to 100% salvage if explored within 4 hrs

• Surgical intervention is detorsion and fixation to scrotal sac (also on contralateral side)
