- Due to calcaneal navicular or talo-calcaneal bars (abnormal connection –
bony or cartilaginous)
- Often have repeated ankle sprains and strains with athletic activity.
Often causes pain.
- Exam: decreased subtalar motion.
- Diagnose by x-ray (oblique view) or CT (especially for talo-calcaneal)
- Treatment: short leg walking cast for 3 weeks followed by referral to
Ortho for possible arthroplasty or arthrodesis
