Imaging
- findings on plain film may be subtle; there may be no abnormalities for
the first 2 weeks following infection, because 30-50% of bone density must be
lost before a lucent abnormality is apparent
- for oseomyelitis, MRI has been reported to have a sensitivity of 88-100%
and a specificity of 75-100%.
- MRI is indicated it there is a significant hx of pain and the radiographs
demonstrate no bony abnormality
