Moebius Syndrome (Congenital Facial Diplegia)
- mask-like facies; don't know how to smile, +/- mental retardation
- 6th (abducens) and 7th nerve (facial) palsies; can be central or
peripheral nerves, unilateral or bilateral
- micrognathia; "convergent squint"
- also: epicanthic folds, ear abnormalities, defective branchial musculature
- in some cases, limb defects: syndactyly, polydactyly, brachydactyly,
oligodactyly, absent trapezoid or pectoral muscles
- Considerable overlap with Poland syndrome and hypoglossia-hypodactyly
syndrome
