Nephrotic vs Nephritis Chart
- UA with significant proteinuria
- may have hematuria with the proteinuria
- cholesterol is elevated; albumin is decreased
- C3 is normal
Treatment:
- prednisone2mg/kg/day for 4 weeks then wean
- most patients have total resolution of proteinuria within 21 days
- relapses which require intermittent prednisone may occur
- consider renal biopsy if no response

Glomerulosclerosis must always be considered in any child who has
Nephrotic
Syndrome and does not undergo a remission within 4 weeks of beginning steroid
therapy
