• Thyrotoxicosis occurs in 1% of neonates born to toxic mothers
• Graves disease = most common cause
• Thyroid stimulating antibodies cross the placenta
• Treat mother with PTU
• (PTU crosses the placenta: risk of neonatal goiter)
• Fetus may display IUGR
