Blepharitis

Inflammation of the eyelids/eyelash follicles secondary to chronic Staph infection

Clinical Picture:

• Redness and swelling of lid margins
• Eyes matted shut upon awakening
• Mild conjunctival injection
• Itching and irritation
• Mild photophobia

When chronic phlytenulosis can develop

• Phlyctenulosis= ulcerations or nodules on the cornea and conjunctiva

Treatment:

• Lid Hygiene = Lid margin scrubs BID
• Erythromycin ointment to lid margins BID after scrub
