15 months old

Fine Motor: feeds self w fingers/spoon; drinks from cup; scribbles crayons, 2 blocks. Hand dominance prior to 18 mo may indicate weakness in contralateral hand.
Gross Motor: walks independently, maybe run, goes up stairs both feet. Persistent toe walking may indicate spasticity.
Cognitive: functional understanding of objects (pretends to use toy phone, holds comb near hair)
Communication: single words, 5-15, jargon, gestures, points to 1 or 2 body parts on request, 1 step commands
Social: separation anxiety; gives/takes toys, tests parental limits/rules, likes new experiences; imitates activities ; thumb sucking peaks 18-21 mos of age, resolves by 4 yo

Nutrition: 3 meals/d. Drinks from cup. Juice: 4-6 oz er day (1-6 y/o). No nuts, hard candies, chewing gum, popcorn, hot dogs, grapes, raisins. Phase out bottle feeding. Toddlers at this age typically don't eat much. Vitamins not necessary if children eating fruits and vegetables.

Teeth: should have all incisors, and by 13 mos all 1st molars also. At 17 mos, all canines, incisors, and 1st molars will be in. (Teething)

Growth: Head circumference 1-3 yrs 0.25 cm/month. In 2nd year, grow 12.5 cm/year (5 inches). Anterior fontanelle closes 13 mos (7-19 mos)

Elim: Put off toilet training until at least 2 y/o. Can purchase a child sized 'potty' and allow child to sit on it at will, with diapers in place. Toilet training.

Sleep: Regular bedtime routine. Nap once per day at least. Lower crib mattresses to prevent child from falling out of crib. Favorite blanket or stuffed animal to help sleep.

Immunizations: MMR1, DTaP4, HepB3,  PCV4, IPV3, Varicella
Common sequelae for DTaP: fever/irritability. Give one dose of tylenol at visit and another 4 h later. Warm compresses at injection sites. Can continue q4h.  Call MD if sig fever or irrit lasts longer than 24 h.

Safety:
Car safety <20 lbs, < 1yo  (9kg): rear facing, in back seat.
At stairwells, use security gates or lock doors, esp to kitchen/basement. Use widow guards.
Don't position chairs/tables so child can climb high.
Don't play w plastic bags or balloons
Supervise near water.
Stove safety.
Water temp.
Environmental smoke, bad for asthma, recurrent OM, BPD
Guns
Sunscreen
Plastic guards on power outlets
Smoke detectors in house.

Screening Labs: blood lead if at risk. PPD if not previously done.

Next visit 18 mos
Expect: up/down stairs,  run, walk backwards, kick, throw a ball. Temper tantrums 15-30 mos.
